I love the progression from the hen’s futile dedication to the cat’s mixed signals to the fire’s destructive beauty.
And you answered a question I literally asked my husband last week when I was composing a poem about two of my cats: “How do you spell that noise we beckon cats with?”
I love the parallelism.
Thank you, Melanie 💛.

Thank you, Irene! This was one of those poems that was more or less demanding to be written—I love that feeling.
I’ve seen the sound spelled starting with an “s” or starting with a “p.” I think it’s all about how you pronounce it ;).
A great piece, Margaret. Love how you used a color to tie it all together, taking the mundane in preparation for the turn at the end.
Thank you so much, Sam.
Love the imagery in this one and they way you used repetition. Poor Sunny.
Thank you so much, MK. We’ve been following some backyard chicken tips about helping her and she is doing a lot better.
The juxtapositions here are striking! You make the scenes spring to life so easily.
Thank you so much, Abigail. The “orange things” kept following me until I finally wrote the first draft late at night.
You have a talent for writing in this format. I always enjoy your insights and musings
Thank you, Alli. I think it might be one of my favorite ways to write—getting to bring different stories/moments together.
Love your poetry for the great visuals it creates in my mind and how your words covey such life!
Thank you, Mom! 💛💛💛
