Everyone is better now, we ordered a part for the freezer, and I've gotten used to a naked window while we line up new blinds. But for a week, it felt like everything was breaking (including me).
This is a marvelous example of poetry out of calamity. Well done! Reminds me of something Kierkegaard said about poets' moaning being turned into beautiful music. I also like how it feels sort of like an upsidedown sonnet, including a rhyming couplet thrown in.
This is wonderful. I’m glad you all are feeling better. I love how you capture what’s actually going on in the moment in your poems, good or bad or in between. It’s such a gift.
Thank you, Lisa 💛. I was worried that the poem was too whiny (I know there are much bigger problems), but you’re right—little despairs can loom large when you’re worn out.
Ha! Oddly enough, the gate at the bottom of the stairs broke too (which caused some calamity with the dog and the cat, who live very separate lives 😁).
I could honestly listen to your writing all day. This poem is so rich, so satisfying, solidifying almost. The rise and fall. I know this is so much harder to do than you make it appear! I really like this poem. x
Ann, thank you for such a wonderful compliment. I also love my daughter’s art. She keeps saying it’s because I’m her mom; I love reporting compliments like yours so she knows it’s not just me 😊.
I’m glad things have turned around for you and your family. It is true how when it rains it pours—but it also makes for a poem, and a good one, at that! May the coming days bring you a bit of peace!

Thank you so much, Jonathan! Now I want to re-read it and find this upside-down sonnet… 😊

Thank you, LeeAnn. Poetry is such a good outlet when everything feels upside-down 💛.
Those little waves of despair can feel so big! You created such beauty out of it with this poem, though, Margaret Ann.

It always comes in 3s. Once that third bad thing happens I can always relax again.

If it’s not one thing, it’s another… on repeat.
Yes…! I’m so relieved that we’re done being sick for now. There’s still broken stuff around here, but honestly, I prefer that over covid.
September had his early toll. Hold on and keep on writing poems that are absolutely amazing 💛
Thank you, Fotini! I hope you’re all recovered? I was so happy to read a poem from you today.
I am feeling a lot better, dear, thank you!
Hooray! I’m so glad 💛.
Oh, I know this feeling. I'm glad to hear everyone is better!
Thank you, A! Me too!
Also, can I again mention your daughter's artwork please. I'm such a fan.
I love hearing that!!! I’m a fan too. I hope she will keep going with it—this painting is at least four years old and she’s only gotten more talented.

Nelly! What a wonderful compliment—I’m just sitting here grinning at the screen (and feeling humbled, too). Thank you so much.
I flip-flopped between Oh no's and chuckles (sorry!) reading this one. I hope you're doing better. Sorry to hear about the waffles :(
Chuckles welcome! 😁 Everyone is so much better and I am SO glad. My youngest and I never got sick which made things easier.
Drawing this moment in time with such precision--no matter how difficult.
Your presence here is stunningly clear, Margaret Ann.
I love your daughter's art as well.

So glad everyone feels better! I love how you wrote a poem after a really hard week.
Thank you, Serena. It was a rough couple of weeks and definitely felt endless at times; it feels good to let go of some of that stress through a poem.
I’m glad things have turned around for you and your family. It is true how when it rains it pours—but it also makes for a poem, and a good one, at that! May the coming days bring you a bit of peace!
Thank you, Carole! I’m so relieved and delighted that everyone is better now 💛.
One foot in front of other....you are getting through it with grace and beauty in your poetry. Thanks
Thank you, Mom 💛. This week has definitely been better.
Oh worry and bother. Hold on in there. But what an ability you have to capture all of this.. what a record of a life.
I love how you dealt with all that and still managed to write another fabulous poem!! 💚
