National/Global Poetry Writing Month, Day 6. I missed the point of the prompt--twice!--but poems are poems. I'll take them any way I can get them (within reason).
That’s lovely. I’m looking forward to those days, whenever they come. I keep remembering my oldest sister going through this with her oldest when he was fourteen. It doesn’t last forever (though it feels hard right now).
Haha I just realized the taste part of the prompt too and have already written my little watermelon poem. Might have to give it a bit of a tweak. Love yours!! I love that food can lead to such rich words about family life!
“the thump parade”
“a slice of sun lighting his straw patch of/ straw curls”
Such beautiful and fun little phrases out of these fruit poems!
Thank you, Jacklyn! It’s always fun to see other thumpers in public 😁.
I remember those times of very slim communication. Our younger one is 32 and starting to open up a great deal more, what a joy.

Yes, I remember it being quite painful and really hard NOT to take personally.
Yeah. This is one of the harder days. I keep having to remind myself that taking it personally won’t make it any less painful.
So wonderful....and I am privileged to know the poetess and the guy eating the cutting the oranges.
😊 Thank you, Mom!
Both are fantastic! I got watermelon also!
Thank you, Kristine! Wait, are you posting yours? I’ve been under the weather and pretty behind on reading.
Just on my notes! Under the weather myself now, too. Hope you’re feeling better!
Ugh, I’m sorry. I hope you feel better soon. I think I’m 80% done with whatever this illness was, thankfully.
